Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Your account details. Your email address, and your name and profile photo if you sign in with Google. We use Google sign-in only to confirm who you are.
• Puzzle profiles you create. A first name or nickname, an optional age range, and the interests and topics you pick. These are the raw material for the clues.
• Delivery details. Recipient email addresses, any personal note you write, and the day and time you want puzzles sent.
• Puzzles and play progress. The puzzles we generate for you and the answers filled in while solving them.
• Basic technical information. Cookies that keep you signed in and that let us offer one free puzzle without an account, plus standard server logs.

How we use it

• To write and build the crosswords you ask for.
• To email puzzles, PDFs and your personal notes to you or to the person you chose.
• To run your account, purchases and subscriptions, and to reply to support requests.
• To keep the service working and prevent abuse.

We do not use your information to train our own models, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run Crossworded, and they only see what they need to do their job:

• Payments. Stripe processes payments and subscriptions. Card numbers go straight to Stripe — we never see or store them.
• Email. Resend delivers your puzzle emails, sign-in links and support messages.
• Hosting and puzzle generation. Our hosting, database and AI writing providers store and process the profile topics used to write clues.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the service from fraud or abuse.

Puzzle links

Every puzzle gets its own hard-to-guess link so the person you send it to can play without creating an account. Anyone with that exact link can open the puzzle, so treat it as semi-private. We ask search engines and AI crawlers not to index these links, and puzzle pages carry no personal contact details.

Keeping and deleting your information

We keep your profiles and puzzles while your account is active, so you can replay old puzzles and so new ones do not repeat the same answers. You can ask us to delete your account, your profiles and your puzzles at any time and we will do it. Some records, such as payment receipts, are kept where the law requires it.

Children

Crossworded is for adults. Accounts are not intended for anyone under 13. You are welcome to create a puzzle profile for a child in your family — it is your account that holds it.

Your choices

You can update or delete a profile, cancel a subscription, or ask for a copy of your information at any time. Puzzle emails include an unsubscribe option, and subscriptions can be cancelled from your account.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above, and we will let you know by email if the change is significant.
